Hi Watson,

I am not a writer, but your post did get me thinking.  I have seen people use Trello (another Atlassian product with boards and cards) for many wonderful things: https://zapier.com/blog/how-to-use-trello/

A little bit of searching shows that it's not uncommon for writers to use jira for writing as well:
