Update to how the issue view handles a large number of attachments.

Hello Atlassian community,

I’m Ahmud, a product manager on the issue experience team in Jira Cloud. Today we’re announcing an update to how we handle more than 150 attachments on the issue view.

Right now, if you exceed a certain number of attachments on an issue, you can’t preview them, see them as a thumbnail, or download all of them at once.

We’re introducing a new experience to address these.

What’s happening?

From the 5th of June 2023, when an issue has over 150 attachments, it’ll only display attachments in the list view.

You’ll be able to:

  • View attachments in the list view.

  • Upload an attachment.

  • Download a single attachment.

  • Download all attachments on the issue at once.

  • Delete attachments.

Why is this happening?

We heard your concerns about needing more attachments on issues, and wanted to make it easier for you to add more context to issues.

What do I need to do?

No immediate next steps. The new experience will begin rolling out 5th of June 2023, all users should receive the experience within 3 weeks.

If you want to want to better work with over 150 attachments per issue, you can look for other file storage solutions on the Atlassian Marketplace.

Give us feedback

We hope these changes will improve your Jira experience and make it easier for you to work. If you have any questions or feedback, let us know in the comments below.

Thanks,
Ahmud Auleear
