Hello community,
We’re upgrading how you create linked issues in Jira business projects! Starting in December, you can use the modern issue create experience when creating a linked issue from Jira business projects. What’s the upgrade, you ask?
Previously, on the Create linked issue screen, only the summary, description, and other required fields were displayed instead of all the fields configured for the selected issue type. Additionally, it used the old wiki editor, which missed all the newer functionality and had dated UX.
In the new Create linked issue screen, all fields (both required and optional) configured for the selected issue type are displayed; you have a richer editing experience where you can let AI do the writing for you and, overall, a more modern and performant experience.
To make the experience of creating linked issues in business projects consistent with software projects, field values will no longer automatically copy from the source issue to the new issue. If you wish to use field values from the source issue, you can easily do so by resizing the screen to the dock and then copy-pasting select field values, giving you control over the data that gets copied.
Although this change does not affect Jira Service Management, if you’d like the feature to copy field values from the source issue like in Jira Service Management, please vote and add your comments on JRACLOUD-74100.
Let us know your feedback below. We’re always happy to hear from you!
