Join Atlassian’s Early Access Program for Priorities per Project in Jira Cloud

[UPDATE: We've now closed this EAP as we're starting our general availability release]

Hi everyone,

We’re enabling Jira admins to set up priority schemes in Jira Cloud. This means you can use different priorities for different projects. We’re looking for Jira admins to join our Early Access Program (EAP) and give us feedback on this feature.

See the below table for details:

What will be available?  By default, all the priorities you have today will be in a default priority scheme for all existing projects. You can:
  • Add or remove priorities in the default priority scheme.

  • Create your own custom priority schemes for specific projects.

  • Edit or delete priority schemes.

  • Manage priority schemes in Jira settings.

Note: We’re not enabling interactions via APIs.

What do you need to do to sign up? Fill in the EAP survey.

Note: If you’re not a Jira admin and you think this will benefit your team, speak with your admin to get involved.

For any questions and clarification
  • Reply to this post for questions about the survey or email me directly on
           nschwartz@atlassian.com.
  • If you qualify, you will be invited to a private community group for this EAP where you can post questions in the group and we’ll get back to you.

What will happen to the feature after the EAP?
  • You can continue to use this feature on your instance.
  • We can enable this feature for production instances if you’re testing on a sandbox as well.

Ready to go? Fill in the EAP survey.

Note: Features in the EAP may have some bugs. We’ll share more details about these bugs, and you can also raise them in the group.

Regards,

Nicole

Hi - thanks for this @Nicole Schwartz  - I am signing up! BTW "We’re not enabling interactions via APIs" should end with a "yet" right? Thank you

@Nicole Schwartzwhat happens if we sign up for this eap and decide later to deactivate it?

Will all projects return to the global priority settings without any problems?

And what will happen to the issues within a project that might had a different priority which than would be no longer available?

kind regards

Kai

@Nicole Schwartz if we sign up with our sandbox and want to push it to production would that be a hassle? Thanks,

Rodrigo

Will this work like custom field contexts allowing us to set different / default values per Issue Type also?

For example a Change may have very different priorities to an Incident or a Request that exist within the same project.

We are quite relieved to see that we will be able to have different Priorities apply for different Projects. Without this, users often choose Priorities that are invalid.

Thanks,

Nancy

Thanks for all the interest and questions!

@Yatish Madhav you can watch the ticket here

@Hoffmann, K yes we can disable the feature for you which will mean that all your existing priorities will be available for all your projects again.

@Rodrigo Angulo you wont be able to push your sandbox to production.

@David Meredith for team-managed projects, you can set the default value for Priority per issue type but not for company-managed projects.

@Nicole Schwartz based on your latest response, could we make an edit on my interest form then? I'd like to apply the EAP to my production env instead.

=> May I know if we have any plan for Company-managed projects to support issue-level permission scheme? @Nicole Schwartz

Hi @Alp Erguneyafter signing up to the EAP, you will be invited to a private community group if you qualify for the EAP. Once you've joined the group, we'll enable the EAP for your instance within a couple business days.

Hi @Yong, priorities per issue type is not something we have planned for as part of this feature at this moment. Here is a feature request for this if you'd like the vote and watch for updates there.

@Nicole Schwartz

Thanks for adding me to the EAP. This will really solve a challenge for many of our customers with the different types of business solutions that we provide.

Hi @Nicole Schwartz , is the EAP still open? I have just filled in the survey. We are about to migrate from Jira Server to Cloud soon, and the lack of priority schemes is a pain for us. It would be great if we could get this feature enabled.

Hi @Jakub Krauzyes the EAP is still open! Thanks for signing up and excited to have you involved in the EAP! We have support for migration to Cloud with Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA). If you're migrating with JCMA and the EAP is enabled for your instance, you can use your priority schemes from Server/Data Center in Cloud.

Jakub Krauz November 23, 2023

Great news, thanks @Nicole Schwartz ! That's exactly what I was hoping for.

Swagato Bhatta November 24, 2023

Hi

I just filled up the survey. We are migrating Jira from data center to cloud. I am the Service Manager at Department of Communties and Justice. We will like to have this enabled please for us. Most of our projects have priority scheme. Hence, we need it for successful migration. Migration is runnig from 25th - 30th. Hence, sooner we can have this enabled, better is it for us.

Thanks
