What is the benefit of this vs Components?
Hi,
The use of the new Category field within Jira Work Management projects offers the ability to group that List view by the Category. The component field is not setup to be able to group issues in that view.
But also in regards to team-managed projects, Components are not yet a feature within those project types. There is a feature request for this over in https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17601
So this Category feature is especially beneficial for team-managed projects.
Thanks for the input Andy.

Hi @Mandy Sobel ,
interesting question. I am unable to locate Categories. Can you provide details on this or maybe a documentation link?

Actually I just found this article - categorize-items-in-your-list-view . Your question is a good one for sure. Seems duplicative to me.

It would be good to hear from Atlassian on this.
