how can I create new project template for all future projects?

our project creation process:

create a project> software development template> kanban > use template> select company managed project.

and we have new, empty project where we have to create our kanban stages from zero.

we would like, in the middle of this process, have and option to choose our kanban template. how I can managed that?

Hi @Reda Menčikovaitė _ Project manager

The option in Jira is to share settings with an existing Project - so you might...

  • Create a Template Project, with specific Issue Types, Workflows, Screens, etc you want all Projects to share
  • Set each new Project to share the settings of this Template Project

To do this during creation...

  1. Go to Projects > Create Project
  2. Select a Kanban template, and choose to Use template
  3. Select a company-managed project
  4. Check the box Share settings with an existing project
  5. Choose the project to use - i.e the Template Project
  6. Give the Project a name/key - and create it

Let us know if this works for you!

Hi @Stephen Wright _Elabor8_ , it should be working but something goes wrong.

If I compare both project settings>project summary they are identical.

But looking from user interface I cant see board module, roadmap. I'd like to share two prints screens for more details, maybe you would know there is the problem.

Maybe you know what setting I might missed?

p.s. I had created new project according your manual guidelines

Hi @Reda Menčikovaitė _ Project manager

Even though you receive a Board (which includes a Roadmap) when you create a Project from a default template - they're not actually a part of the Project.

A Board is the visualisation of a search filter - and it can contain one Project, or multiple, depending on the search parameters.

If using Share settings with an existing project, you will need to create a Board for the new Project manually.

To do this...

  1. On the left-hand side, select the Board drop-down menu
  2. At the bottom of the list, select + Create Board
  3. Choose a board type
  4. On the next screen, select Board from an existing project
  5. Give the Board a name, and choose your newly created Project. The location should be the same Project
  6. Select to Create board
