Unable to create Task under Story

Hi,

I am unable to create a Task under Story. Only Subtask is possible but I have a need to have Story->Task->Subtask.

Please check/suggest

Regards

Asha

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Yes, this is correct, the hierarchy is Epic -> Story (or task, or any other name you want) -> Sub-task.

Sub-tasks of sub-tasks is an anti-pattern, it just makes a completely unusable mess in most cases.  The best case is that it drags you into massive micro-management, which is completely unproduvtive.

You should be looking at your processes, trying to make them into a function shape that uses Epic -> Story -> Sub-task as intended.  And probably look upwards above epic.

Hi Asha,

What kind of problem you are trying to solve? There must be another way to solve the situation.

Regards, Mindaugas

Hi Asha,

That is not standard Agile practice and is not allowed in Jira.
