I’m unable to move Jira Tasks around to different boards. I was able to this morning and it looks like I’m unable to now. I currently go to a task that’s on one board, and select move. From there I would normally just select the board I want to move it to as well as update any other fields, but currently I only get this issue error message:

Is there anything insight onto why this may be occurring? I have all the said permissions on all 3 projects.

Hello @Mateski, Duane

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

Are you using Jira Cloud? If your URL for Jira is similar to the following then you are using Jira Cloud:

https://<something>.atlassian.net

Clarifying terminology - issues exist in Projects. You can move an issue from one Project to another Project. Boards are a way of viewing and manipulating issues that are in Projects. Issues are not "in" a board because it is possible that multiple boards display the same issues.

What type of Project are you working with? Is it Software, Service, or Work Management?

If you are in Jira Cloud, in addition to the previous question, is the project Team Managed or Company Managed?

Can you provide replicate the error and provide screen images showing each step?

1. The issue view before you try to move it.

2. How you access the Move option.

3. What options you select after selecting Move.

After you receive this error message, if you search for the issue based on its original issue key (the key it had before you moved it), what are the results?

Hi!

Thanks for a prompt response. I am indeed using the Jira Cloud "https://onedigi.atlassian.net/jira/your-work"

I am using Jira Software if I'm not mistake I go to the first picture linked.Jira Step 1.PNG

The Project is team managed and I've worked with my admin and I have privileges to create, manage and move issues between the 3 projects. I have been doing so for about 9 months now up until today.

1. The issue view before you try to move it.

Jira Step 2.PNG

2. How you access the Move option.

I access the move option by selecting the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and select the move option.

3. What options you select after selecting Move.

I no longer that far and receive the error message I included originally.

Hello @Mateski, Duane

For the image you provided you can tell that it is a Software project based on the project type shown at the top of the left panel (1), and that it is a Company Managed project based on the statement at the bottom of the left panel (2).

The message suggests that whatever issue you were viewing may have already been moved to a project to which you do not have access by the time you select the Move option. For that same issue, are you able to execute a new search for that specific issue and view it?

Has your admin used the Permission Helper to confirm you have access to move a specific issue?
