Subtasks and the "Assigned to me" filter

My team board has a task assigned to one person, with a subtask assigned to another. When we use the Assigned to me filter, the subtasks do not show up under that users name like the tasks do. Is there a way to have subtasks function the same way?

Hi Kerri,

So, just to recap - you see sub-tasks on the board at the same time you see other issue types.

But if you use the Assigned to Me quick filter, it shows some issues assigned to you, but not the sub-tasks associated to you, if the Sub-tasks assigned to you have a different person assigned to the parent.

Is that the case?

yes - that is the case.

any idea how to fix that?  @John Funk

No, I think you will need to contact Atlassian support unfortunately.

Hi @Kerri_Johnson

I'd expect it to be one of the 3 points below based on your description:

  • Your board filter does not include subtasks
  • You're looking at the board backlog, where sub-tasks are not shown (subtasks are not ranked)
  • The 'Assigned to me' quick filter is not including subtasks

Hope that helps, let me know how you get on - Steve

@Steve Long -Evelon- it is this one:

  • The 'Assigned to me' quick filter is not including subtasks - do you know how to chnage that so it does include sub tasks? I do see them on the board.
