We are experiencing issues with status names as the seem to automatically default to status category naming (To Do, In Progress, Done) in the List View. I kind of managed to unconsciously correct that in one project but now, other projects face the same issues.
Can someone share the logic behind that and how to correct that?
It seems to happen also when creating different workflows for different issue types. Highly appreciate any solutions for that as well.

Hi Christian,
The statuses are based on the Workflow that is associated with the project. So if you create a new project and the default workflow that comes with that template has those names, that what you see.
So, if you want to change the status names, then you need to modify the workflow. But do not simply change the status names in the workflow because that could potentially change that status name through out your entire instance. You would need to modify the workflow to add new statuses (and therefore new status names) into your workflow.

Thank you for responding so quickly to my question.
If I understand your suggestion correctly, you mean that I should enter the workflow settings for a given project and issue type, add new status categories (one for each), and give them the names I want to see in this workflow. After that, I can delete the default ones. Is that right?
