Remove status from workflow

Hi,

I am unable to remove the status from a published workflow.

You can only remove statuses from inactive workflows. To start with this workflow and remove statuses, make a copy of it which will be inactive. You can assign it to the project when you're happy with it.

How to proceed??

Regards

Asha

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You can only remove status from inactive workflows because active workflows may have issues in that status, and it would be a nightmare to have to migrate during a workflow editing session.

  • Copy the workflow you want to remove the status from
    • Edit the new copy, removing the status
    • make any other changes you need (there's also a bug on Cloud that stops you adding new transitions out of status that do not have any transitions out yet, on draft workflows)
  • You can now either
    • Copy the workflow schemes using the old workflow, edit them and associate the new workflow with what is currently using the old, then apply the new schemes to all the projects
    • Edit the workflow schemes directly - add the new workflow and Jira will walk you through the migration (bear in mind this will affect all projects using the workflow scheme)
