whats the best way to create status reports?

I wanna know whats the best solution for creating status reports. The status reports are intended for customers and partners to get an weekly insight on how projects are going (overall progression, task completion, time estimations, indicative charts, whats to do on their behalf etc.)

The dashboard and reports jira offers are not really what I need, or maybe i just cant get the most of them.

Confluence seems like it could do the job well? 

And what are alternatives?

Bob, I've been looking for that "move" mechanism via CLI / REST, but been unable to do so. We do the clone/move thing regularly, but since shifting to OnDemand, have noted that we lost a bunch of functionality in doing so, and are now having to perform a number of tasks manually that we didn't before. Is there a way to do this that I'm not seeing?
