Is it possible to use a variable or a custom field when formatting the date, e.g. 

{{now().plusHours({{"customfield_10286"}})

If it's OnDemand, you need to raise it with Atlassian, as Ignat suggests.

If it's your own installation, then you should read your log to find out what the actual error is.
