Can I save the customized a Jira project board and save as a template?

I often find myself performing repetitive tasks when creating and setting up a new project board, like configuring privacy settings and defining issue types. This repetitive process got me thinking, is it possible to create a personalized Jira board with all the required settings and save it as a template? That way, in the future, I could simply 'create a project' and select my saved template to expedite the setup process.

Turns out I had to wait for somebody to manually enable the course in the geolearning platform so I could then access the course in some featureless flash player. Eventually I did get an email... So far a really bad user experience...

After it was enabled I had to go to go.atlassian.com/lms to actually answer the original question.
