I am new to this system and would like to know how you link items to ensure they are completed in the correct order i.e 1 item can not start until its previous . linked item has been completed . If the previous item is delayed then it should automatically push out all the following tasks on the timeline .

Are you looking for JIRA for Enterprise workshop or the instructor-led admin training? You could also confirm this with your TAM or customer/sales advocate.

There are also some free interactive JIRA administrator lessons in the Atlassian University site, including lessons for the newer JIRA 6.2 version which would prepare you well for the advanced instructor courses.
