I have a problem that a few issues get a random label assigned.
This happens in all Jira project, does not matter if Software, Service Management or Work Management.
In the beginning it was kind of fun to have these labels assigned randomly, but in the end I would like to get rid of them.
In the screenshot you can see that there is no change related to the label.
Is there any way to see where this label comes from?
I already deleted a few of these random labels, hoping they would just stay away. But they are like a boomerang :/
We have an app included in our environment (Backbone Sync), so we can sync some issues with another environment. But in the configuration, labels are not being synced.
Someone has an idea where they come from and how I get rid off these?
Hello @Michael Zimmermann
If the values are added when the issue is being created there would not be any separate history entry for that. For the one issue you have shown, since there is no history showing the field change that suggests it was added when the issue was created.
If you delete a value from the Labels field, there should be a history entry for that.
If the value is added after the issue is created, there should be a history entry for that.
Jira does not typically add values to a field, specifically the Labels field, unless instructed to do so. That instructions could be coming from a user, from an Automation rule, from a workflow, from a third party product, .... All of these should leave a trace in the History of the issue.
Hi @Trudy Claspill ,
is there any way to trace what causes these labels to be created.
I have another JSM project that is only used by me. In there I create issues only via the Mail integration in Jira. No user creates issues in a portal and I am not creating these issues manually either.
Still it happens that random labels pop up on these issues. And I have no Idea where they come from since no one has ever setup something in that project than me.
