Is there a way to reduce the visual appearance of these elements in the UI? They take up too much space that could hold a board, diagram, or other useful information.

Unfortunately no. Previously the menu that you highlighted was in the sidebar where it is for JSW an JSM. I wish it was still the case for JWM. ☹️
