JWM Field Auto populate

Clint Moollen June 5, 2023

Hi,

I've created a Project on JWM with a few custom fields. I would like to auto populate some fields that fall lower down in the hierarchy.

Example:

I have a Client Name field at the highest level in my hierarchy (Initiative in my case). Lets call this L1. If I create an issue underneath this (L2), I would like the Client Name to auto populate from L1 to L2 (or any other lower lever, e.g. L3) under the client name field.

Is this at all possible, and how would one go about this. I did go through the automation library, but I did not pick up any associated rules.

Can anyone assist?

You can do this through Automation rules.

For populating from the higher levels down through the subtasks of child issues of Epics you would use a rule like this:

On the Rule Details page you would also need the check this box:

Thanks so much Trudy. I'll give this a try.
