Issue with Filters in Jira Work Management Team-Managed Projects

Irini Sfirakis March 19, 2024

Hello!

I've encountered some bugs while working with filters in Jira Work Management Team-Managed Projects. Below are my concerns:

1. Export Options: In my filter view, there are various options to export data. Which is the correct one for exporting to an Excel file? I've tried several options, and each exports the information differently:

a) Exporter

b) Open in Microsoft Excel

c) Export XML

d) Export Excel CSV (filter fields)

2. Exported Column Data of Custom Fields: When I add filter columns from fields that accept multiple input options and then export the data into an Excel spreadsheet, each option is exported into a separated column. Our aim is to export this information in just one column.

In the example in the attached image, the column "Custom Field (Tipo de Pieza)" was exported using Export Excel CSV (filter fields), and appeared in 8 different columns. Our aim to have this information exported in just one column.

3. Duplicated Export Columns: When exporting, in this case, with Export Excel CSV (filter fields), a custom field called "Nº Adaptaciones" was duplicated three times, with two empty and the first one containing the correct data.

4. Column Configuration: when applying columns to one filter, I expect the configuration to remain specific to that filter. However, the configuration set is being applied to other created filters. Is there a way to prevent this?

Thank you for your help!

Hi @rocio.garay , you have that button when using "view all issues" and creating a JQL search. You could also use the official excel extension free

Hi @Irini Sfirakis , let me assist where I can.

  1. export icons - I am unsure what the first multi colored icon is but most certainly it is associated with an add-on app that you have installed. The first green icon is Excel, which is fairly clearly marked with the Microsoft excel icon. The second green icon is for Google sheets. So if you wish to export to excel I would use the Excel icon. Exporting to XML would not be something you would use for Excel. You could use export to CSV and then open the CSV file via Excel but no reason to do that given you have Excel button.
  2. Exporting multi-select will be shown in multiple columns. This is the only way that could work. If you wish to have the values in a single cell you can use Concatenation in Excel.
  3. what kind of field is this? Multi-select? If so see #2.
  4. When you click on the columns drop-down you have three options, default filter and system. Be sure that you are choosing filter option when you select your columns and Savior filter.

Hi @Jack Brickey ,

1. Thank you for your prompt reply! I adjusted the column configuration by selecting options from the filter menu and generated a new report using the Excel button. Here are my follow up comments:

2. When exporting wth the Excel button, the column "Tipo de Pieza" (a checkbox field) is exported in a single column, but it appears empty without any values. However, in the filter view, I can see the values in this column.

What is interesting is that I have other checkbox field columns that, when exported with the Excel button, all their values are concatenated into one column. How is this  differentiation possible?

3. I'm pleased to report that the issue with duplicated columns no longer occurs when exporting with the Excel button. Everything looks good here! 👍

4. I managed to resolve the issue with saving configurations. However, previously, I could save new settings within the same filter board, but now it prompts me to "Save As" a new filter. Is it possible to save changes directly to the existing filter we're working on?

Thank for your assistance!

Hi @Irini Sfirakis ,

I will need to see if I can find time to test/investigate and reproduce to be able to answer your questions further. On #4, how did you solve exactly? Usually there is a Save option but possibly when you switch from default to filter it requires you to create a new filter.

Hi @Jack Brickey ,

It appears that there have been some updates to the Filter Feature since yesterday.

In response to your query, I managed to resolve it by clicking on the Column Configuration button and selecting the "Filter" tab, as illustrated below:

And now, the option to save has been reinstated:
