I noticed that there is a new Jira created field available for JWM. But it seems that this field is only available for new projects. Wondering how can I add this field to my old projects?
Hi @Elsa Li !
Thanks for reaching out. This is indeed a new field we've added to new projects and we're currently working on making this available to your existing projects as well.
It may take about 2-4 weeks before this becomes available, but stay tuned and we'll let you know once we have any updates on this.
Kind regards,
Jane
Since this is a new field, I don't have the option to create options for it. Will this work like components where it's maintained in the project, or do we maintain it under settings/fields?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Go to Settings > Issues > Custom Fields
Search for Category. Then click the 3 dots menu and select Context and Default Values
Then you can put in values for it.

Thanks John, but that was the first place I had checked, and unfortunately it's locked:

Well, that's weird - I just added one day before yesterday and now it is locked for me, also.
So, try this - go to the List feature and add the Category field to your List screen. Then click in an empty field for one of the issues.
The click in the box where is says Add category, and put one in there.

This worked for me, Strange that it is only searchable from the Board tab and has no option to create unless from the list feature. Thanks for the answer John.

Hi Elsa - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
This appears to be a custom field that someone might have added to your Jira Work Management Team-managed project. Can you verify that is the type of project?
