Disable Board View / Make Issues or List view Default when clicking on a Project

This is really bad. In the past the board showed nothing when multiple work flows existed in the same project. That was peculiar but at least you could live with it. Now it seems they have tried to improve that only to break the engine. 

Now I have a board that attempts to display 1100 open items in some random workflow (looks like the default) which is not bound to those issue types. And because it is the default view with no way around that, every time I open the project it locks up the browser for 20 seconds before I can click out of it. 

I can't present this to my client and I can't use it like this. When. will this be fixed? Is there another release pending? I can't believe this was overlooked. What a screw up!
