Darshan Hiranandani : Why is My 'Task Creation' Automation Failing, While Sub-Task Creation Works

Darshan Hiranandani January 1, 2025

Hello all,

I’m Darshan Hiranandani, working on automating task creation in a project that uses different issue types. The goal is to automatically create tasks upon the transition of statuses. The automation works as expected for the Epic issue type, but when I try to set it up for 'Story' or 'Initiative,' the task creation fails, even though the setup is identical to the Epic automation.

Here are some key points:

  • The automation fails for 'Story' and 'Initiative' types, but works perfectly for 'Epic.'
  • The task creation works if I exclude 'parent issue' from the automation.
  • Subtask creation works fine, but I need to use 'tasks' instead.

Has anyone encountered a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to resolve this? Your thoughts and recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Regards

Darshan Hiranandani
