Yes, this is possible, if you have sufficient permissions.

  • You need the Make Bulk Changes global permissions.
  • You need permissions within the relevant project to change the status of the issues, in general, and specifically whatever might be required if Conditions are set on the transition.
  • There must be a transition defined in the issue workflow supporting changing the status in the way you want.
  1. From the Advanced Issue Search screen create a search that retrieves the issue you want to change.
  2. Click on the ... button in the upper right corner and select Bulk Change All Issues
  3. Choose the issue you want to change and click Next.
  4. Choose Transition Issues and click Next
  5. Choose the Destination Status and click Next.
  6. Confirm you selections.

Note that there is no Undo/Revert option so make sure that you are very sure you want to change the issues.

Hi @Trudy Claspill

Thank you for the answer. However, that still creates a lot of notifications for the members involved in the project.

Is there any other way I can move bulk items inside the same project from one status to another?

Thanks again.

If you are a Jira Administrator you should see this option to disable sending emails for your bulk change. If you are not a Jira Admin you own't have that option.

Hi @Hazha.ahmed

if you prefer a more "interactive" bulk-editing experience, you might like the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also supports spreadsheet-style bulk-editing via copy/paste, like so:

You can update up to 10000 issues in one action, and also undo/redo, just like you would in any other app.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Hannes Obweger - JXL for Jira

That's a cool tool. What about the notification? Does it still send a ton of notifications upon the changes made or just one notification?

Thank you.

Hi @Hazha.ahmed,

that's configurable on your sheet:

There's a few nuances to this, because of certain limitations that Jira has; put simply, you can only disable the notifications if you are an admin to the respective issue (that's the same limitation that Trudy mentioned wrt. Jira's built-in bulk editing wizard).

Best,

H
