I've the same issue about the "Epic Link" locked. Since it is locked, I cannot arrange it as "REQUIRED".. What I want to do is; to make EPİC LİNK "Required" while opening a "TASK".. However, since it has the status "LOCKED" ı cannot do anyhtinhg. Could you please inform me about how to do it?
Hi - the workflow validator method is what I use for this on the create transition, and it does work out-of-the-box in Jira Cloud without needing any add-ons.
I kept looking for that, I just couldn't find it! I'm not sure what I was missing!

As an administrator of a Jira for Teams, I can't create a different workflow. It comes pre-configured. I only have these options:

@isabella_salte,
Yeah, I don't see that in the Team Managed project settings. What he is looking at is a company managed workflow.
Thanks,
Kian

@isabella_salte,
I'm not aware of any way to do this out of the box. I suppose you could place a validator on the workflow for task and try to require the Epic Link field, but I don't think the out of the box field required validator provides Epic Link as an option. You might need to try the Jira Automation Suite Utilities plugin or the Jira Misc Workflow extension plugin.
