Zephyr For JIRA & JIRA Server/Data Center Integration with Jenkins Pipeline

Sreejit Purushothaman May 8, 2020

Our team has done a POC in my organization on how to integrate Jira Cloud with Zepher, Zappi on how to publish the test results from an automation execution cycle into Zephyr from a Job triggered from Jenkins. (We tried all these in our personal account)

But once when we contacted the Jira Administration of our organization we realized that they are not using Jira Cloud and they are using JIRA Server/Data Center. Is it possible for us to use Zephyr + Jenkins + Automation code execution in JIRA Server/Data Center as well?

Hi @Sreejit Purushothaman ,

Yes the functionally for the jenkins plugin for the server is almost same to the cloud one, however the configuration will vary from the jenkis confuration side. Also please note that the jenkins will only relay on the result file that is produced from your automation framework, not the codes.

On the other hand ZAPI cloud and Server are completely different when is comes to use of the APIs. The apis for all the actions are completely different and you have to only use the platform specific API's.

Hi Bibek,

So are you saying these configurations and plugins of Zephyer which we use for Jira cloud will not work in Server/Data Centre? And we need to use APIs and create an interaction layer?

Hi @Sreejit Purushothaman ,

The configuration for integration will be little different as for JIRA cloud integration you need the api tokens, for server you can use the admin credentials to integrate the JIRA.

The apis which you are using to perform the automation would be different. As the zapi server and cloud has different api set.
