Why is "subtask" not appearing when I select create a new issue?

Elliot Manuel March 15, 2024

I am trying to learn Jira. It seems that subtasks are enabled in my project but I don't see the option to create that issue type when I select the "create" button.

hello @Elliot Manuel and welcome to the Community!  Sub-tasks have to be created from within an existing issue (like a Story or Task).   From an existing issue, you should see a "Create subtask" button below the Summary.  HTH

Sub-tasks do not exist without a parent issue.

They can be created as a child ticket from any standard issue type - Story, Task, Epic, etc.

Hi @Elliot Manuel welcome to the community.  Sub-Tasks are child issues and must be created off of standard issue types.
