Why am I not able to see the total number of story points in my backlog?

I was reading an article that had this screenshot (below) where they have white, blue and green icons show the total number of story points in their project backlog.

Backlog view

But when I view my backlog I don't see any numbers there, and other are definitely story points in it. The view works for my sprints when viewing in backlog.

Please provide a link to the article you're reading.

Are you working with a board for a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

If you are working with a Company Managed project board, what do you see in Board Settings > Estimation? Board Settings will be available under a ... button in the upper right corner, if you are an admin for the board.

This is the article:

It is a company managed project board. I see this under Estimation:

Hm, I am seeing the same behaviour. I don't have an explanation and haven't found one in my searching so far. I recommend you raise the issue with Atlassian Support directly, and post back what you learn.

Hello @lauren_orr @Trudy Claspill - Have we found a solution to the aforementioned problem?

I never pursued this with Atlassian Support.

However, looking at it again now I took a look at the article @lauren_orr referenced and looked more closely at the screen images of the Backlog screen. Those images are from a Team Managed project, whereas Lauren and I were looking at Company Managed projects.

In a Team Managed project a sprint has a gray box around it, which matches the images from the article. The following images are from one of my own Team Managed projects:

In the scrum board for a Company Managed project sprints don't have that gray box.

So I suspect that the story points total lozenges above the Backlog portion of the list were perhaps never a feature in the Scrum Boards for Company Managed projects.

In fact I did find that there is a change request to add those story points total lozenges to the Backlog section of the list for Scrum boards for Company Managed projects.
