Hello everyone,
I've received admin and site admin permissions from our administrator.
I' m trying to delete an Epic or Task or other issues from our Jira Cloud project, but I can't do that. I can only delete the whole project (which I don't want to do).
The epic and tasks that I'm trying to delete are irrelevant to our project, so I know exactly why I'm doing that.
I've check that I have permissions in Project settings - Permissions - Delete issue - Project roles (Administrators).
How can I solve that?
Thanks a lot.
Hi @alex and welcome to the community!
What you mention that you have the permissions, could you verify that you (or the group you are in) in also has the role "Administrators"?
You could be granted administrator rights on the instance but you will (based on your permissions scheme) also require the role to which the permission is linked.
In your case that seems to be the Administrator role (which is created globally and added to your project).
So could you go to the Project Settings -> People and see whether your account or a group you are in has the Administrator role assigned?
I agree it's a bit confusing that you have an instance role (admin/site-admin) and that they use the same terminology for the roles within a project (while they are not inherently linked)
Hey @alex ,
Those are still the groups which can (but are not certain) used in the project permissions.
The administrators group is not the same as the Administrator(s) role on the project.
Please
and see there what is defined for those groups and your own account.
If you can also take a screenshot of the permission scheme itself (the delete issue permission) that might help

Thank you for an answer, yes it's confusing.. here's a screenshot of permissions that I have:

well those are the groups you are in (globally) but you will need to look at the project itself
go to Project Settings -> People
and see there what roles your account has.
Since you know in what groups you are you could also see if those groups have any specific roles in the project

Well you have to grant yourself the project role :)
Glad it works!
