What's the difference between portfolio and roadmaps?

My company is interested in Jira Portfolio to manage multiple projects, but it's lacking in stakeholder communication capabilities. I'm particularly interested in the new feature, Roadmaps, which provides an easier to view roadmap. 

 

What's the main differences between Portfolio and Roadmaps? Can I use both together? What are the strengths and weaknesses between these similar features?

Hi @jay bossi ,

Portfolio for JIRA is the previous name of Advanced Roadmap for JIRA so it is the same app.
