I need to change a couple of statuses in the workflow to match the new column names (done dev becomes code review and PO validation becomes PO Review, nothing too crazy!) but i wondered if I delete the old statuses will it affect my metrics? should i wait until the end of the sprint to change them or delete the old statuses?
Welcome to the community @Lauren Gold !
It is not recommended to delete the old statuses, the better option is to wait the end of the sprint, make the workflow temporarily inactive, delete the statuses, and make it active again.
Of course, you should notify your team about this change.
Thank you Nikola! Why is it necessary to make the workflow inactive, what does this mean exactly? I'm very new to Jira been working on it for 6 weeks only, first role as a Scrum Master.

Its' one of the practices, that someone uses and someone does not. Which is also fine. As John, mentioned you can delete the statuses right from your active workflow.

Hi Lauren - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
Is this the only project where those statuses are used? If so, you should just be able to change the names of the statuses directly.

Thanks John! They are used by 2 projects and the workflow has been changed on both so i'll need to delete the old status from both. The team dont want the old statuses appearing on the tickets as they could make a mistake and choose the old one.

Have you already published the new workflow?
