Jira does not have a native method to enable you to search for issues that have had their issue type changed. 

Are you open to using a third party app to get that capability?

Yes, if it is free.

All of the apps I'm thinking of are free only if you have 10 or fewer licensed users. 11 or more users requires you to pay for the apps for all licensed users on your instance.
