I am reviewing our automation usage limits, and almost all of our automations are to edit Done or Abandoned tickets as Resolved.
As per this post, this is apparently a bug, so it does not seem fair that we have to pay extra for these automations.
I am wondering if there is actually a way to have a ticket marked RESOLVED without an automation rule.
I am including a screenshot of our board workflow page for reference.
The community post you refer to has as its solution creating a post-function that sets the Resolution field.
Have you created a post-function for those transitions that move to Done or Abandoned?

Hello @Danielle Allen
This was true for Team Managed Jira Work Management projects, but is no longer true.
The issue was resolved in May 2023.
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JWMCLOUD-180
If your issues in such a project are transitioning to a status in the green/Done status category, then the Resolution field and the Resolved date/time field should now be getting set automatically. You should not need to set them through Automation Rules.
I have tested this with my own TM JWM projects and it appears to be working.
Are you not having the same experience?

@Hi @Danielle Allen, @Trudy Claspill is right. Sorry, but when a I was reading your question I thought you wanted to customize the standard Done resolution to something else, which is still not available and still an open in issue JSWCLOUD-17499

Hello, I will turn off my Resolved automation and test it. Thank you for the information!

Hi @Danielle Allen,
You can set the resolution either by Post functions or by Transition screen.
Post functions is used if you want to force a specific resolution. Transition screen is used if the user can select the resolution from a dropdown. Try this:

Hello,
Thanks for your response! What I would like to have happen is what you describe under POST FUNCTION, however I don't seem to have the options you list.
I get as far as this step in your instructions -
I don't see OPTIONS or POST FUNCTIONS.
All I see is Delete transition or Properties.

Hi @Danielle Allen, my mistake. I was answering based on company-managed project and not team-managed project, even your first image of the worflow clearly shows you are in a team-manged project. Sorry for this.
I will look into a better answer for you.

Alas, my answer is also based on company-managed projects. I don't think you can change the resolution automatically without doing an automation on a team-managed project.

@Danielle Allen, I have to agree with the comment @Robert Wen_ReleaseTEAM_ posted above.
