Unable Read Only JIRA Group

I'm unable to remove users from a read only JIRA group.  I looked in system admin but couldn't find the group.  Returns message 'You cannot remove user from group.  The user's directory is read only.  I don't want to remove the directory or re-name it as to not impact any other users on this directory

You have configured your Jira to use a user directory that it can only read, not write.

So you can not edit the group from within Jira.  Because you have chosen to make it read-only.

To remove the user from the group, go to the user directory and do it there.

Thank you Nic for your quick response.  However, I also tried to remove the users from the directory and it did not allow me to do so.  I forgot to mention in my earlier post.  Any other suggestions?

Sorry, I am not sure I was clear there.  You need to move off Jira and go make these changes in the actual directory.  If it's not letting you, then you need to talk to the directory admins, rather than Atlassian admins.

Thanks Nic.  I appreciate your feedback.  Let me give it a try.
