Upgrade from 7.3.0 to last LTS version

I use JIRA software 7.3.0 and would like to migrate to the latest stable version, how can I do this? Will it be a direct migration, or in stages? What links can help me with this?

I'm afraid that's an essay answer, about as long as the entire admin documentation, plus some of the user stuff.

It has to be - you're effectively asking for a copy of the admin guide.

I am sorry, but there are potentially thousands of lines and most of them would not make any sense without additional context, so you'd need to explain each line as it's listed.  Whilst the admin and user docs do not work from a permission point of view, they do cover the list.  Extracting that into a different shape would be a massive task, and not of a lot of use to most users as they need it by subject, not permission.
