Hi, I am a new JIRA user using JIRA 6.1 and would like to change the default issue workflow. i would like to add 'Assigned' status after 'Open' status. I have managed to add the Assigned status to the workflow - but it is not actually go through this status when i create the bug. where to i need to customize it so when the bug is assign to someone it will be in the 'Assigned' status? Why can't I create a sprint when one is already active?

I can understand not being able to *start* a sprint when one is already active, but I can't see why I can't create one.

Essentially, I want to start planning the sprint by moving issues out of the backlog into the new sprint, and creating new issues - the objective is to reduce the time taken up by planning meetings.

Simply creating the workflow is not sufficient.

You need to associate the workflow with a workflow scheme and then associate the workflow scheme with the project.

Once you do this two bits, you will be able to transition through Assigned status as per your customised workflow.
