Could you please elaborate a little bit more about how intuitive are you expecting from a dashboard view?
You can configure Gadgets on your dashboard where you can add JQL filters ordered by projects or any other field as you want, so it can display the issues itself or even reports for your site details.
E.g: Let's suppose you would like to see on your dashboard all unassigned issues you have at this moment on the project Service Desk (SD):
1 - Create a filter to display this data:
project = SD and assignee is EMPTY
2 - Add the gadget Filter results and configure the filter on the gadget:
