Sprint names are displayed on the board, can the dates also be configured to be displayed.

We have a naming convention for sprints 1-26 since we have 2-week sprints.

There was feedback, can we add the dates for the sprints, I know I avoided this in the past for a couple of reasons:

  • Dates have can convey meaning for external stakeholders who are not on the sprint team, rather than have them focus on business value
  • I name sprints 'team-sprint-1' to team-sprint-26 to allow the team(s) to have parallel sprints 'team1-sprint-1'
  • Keeping sprint name short within the jira interface
  • Sprints can be canceled, replanned restarted and dates can change

When you define a sprint you give it a name, description, and dates, so is there a view option to display the dates in the sprint backlog, and board views for the active sprint

Hey Celeste,

You will have to create a new workflow and replace your current workflow with the new one.

This guide should be able to help you out: https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver072/working-with-workflows-828787890.html

I Tyler! I can't create a new workflow,  I want to transform my existing wkf to a not simplified one. The documentation says that if I change it once, It should became a Jira Workflow, The Project Administration In Jira Server PDF (Atlassian University -  pag.45) says:"Once you edit a simplified workflow adding statuses and transitions, it is no longer a simplified  workflow and becomes a custom workflow."But it doesnt work like that as far as I can test it. I added & removed statuses and It keeps saying that it's a simplified workflows. That's why I ask. Let me know yours ideas!

Hey Celeste,

From what I understand it should act like any other workflow.

Even if you change the current workflow the name of the workflow won't change from "Simplified".

Do you just want to be able to add/edit your workflow, or do you want to rename it?

Hi Tyler. I just change the workflow (not the name). Thanks!

This issue is a pet peave of mine.  The name should change or at least prompt you to change when you modify a "Simplified Workflow."  Therefore, yes, I would like to know how to change the name once the "Simplified Workflow" has been modified.

Edit the workflow, you'll be able to change the name.  You can do it as you copy it too.
