Jira Advanced Roadmaps grouping by custom label type field

I have a Jira AR plan and added custom label type field and I'm trying to group by it ("Expected Quarter").

I have been struggling to get it work and found the following:

 - when I use a label starting with a number, the group does not work

 - for a label starting with a letter it works OK.

When I tested the same with Label field, it works OK.

Am I missing something or is it a bug?

Yes, you will need an add-on.  There are some that do little more than "create issue when a post-function runs" - you can add those post-functions to the "create" process (be careful not to loop them though!)

There are others which give you a lot of flexibility on top of that.  ScriptRunner, Power Scripts and Automation are three that are very powerful kits for doing all sorts of things, including creating sub-tasks on almost any event.

If your use-case is pretty basic then this is pretty easy to get started with.

In that case, your simplest bet would be to pay/install for Jira misc. workflow extension plugin and add a postfunction to create a subtasks on the create transition.
