We have emails added as attachments to our issues. When we click them they opens as text files. The only way we can get them to open in Outlook is to download them first (unnecessary step)
How can we open them automatically in Outlook without downloading them first?

This was a change to the new view; the "o" shortcut, the "e" shortcut, and perhaps others are no longer available. This is expected behavior since the issue is on the screen and you can edit it.
You can, however, turn off the new issue view for software projects for now in the "Personal Settings" of your profile. Here is a link to some documentation on it:

That really sucks! These shortcuts are a great way to save time and effort and I don't know what prompted to take these important timesavers away. This is degradation. Please let your product managers know about this dissatisfaction.
