searchable tag is not correct for fields obtained from '/rest/api/2/field'

I am trying to use '/rest/api/2/field' Rest API to get list of all fields that I can use to form jql. I can see for one of the field, searchable tag is set to true , even if that field is not searchable through Jira UI.

Is this really a bug in above rest api?

Any suggestions, what is the appropriate API I should use to perform jql. I am more inclined in using this API as this one gives Display Name of the fields as well that I would need to display on my UI.

The only instance I am aware of where this can happen is documented in this bug report: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-61812

Is your field one that has no search template as described in that bug report?

Or do you have some other kind of field here?
