Hi everyone. I'm in the process moving my team from our team managed Jira instance to a company managed one. I have some questions i'm having trouble finding answers to when i search online.
1. Roadmap....can i move the team managed roadmap to the company managed project? Or will i loose all the data behind it.
2. History...completed issues. Can these be moved to the new company managed project and keep all of thier links?
3. when i move the new issues over to the new company managed project, is there a way to keep the date in them as to when the issue was created? All testing shows this gets reset when moving to the new project.
any insight would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Tom
Hi Trudy, thanks for commenting. I'm moving between projects in the same Jira Instance I believe.
I'm using the bulk operation wizard
the team managed project and the new company managed projects both use scrum boards.
thanks!
#1 - You can't move a Roadmap. Team Managed projects support only the Basic Roadmap functionality. The Basic Roadmap associated with the scrum board for the Company Managed project will display the issues in the project. Sprints will not move from the Scrum board in the Team Managed project to the Scrum board of the Company Managed project. So, the Roadmap will not show the sprints.
#2 - What are you referring to when you say "their links"? Are you talking about links to other issues using the generic issue linking functionality?
#3 - In my testing moving an issue from any project to another project does not change the Created date/time. If you are seeing that I would like to see the before and after screen images for an issue to show that happens.
Other things to know:
Sprints will not be moved from the Team Managed project board to the Company Managed project Scrum board. They will be displayed in the board because the Sprint assignment of the moved issues is retained. But the sprints themselves are attached to the Team Managed project board. Are you planning to delete the Team Managed project?

Thanks Trudy.
You're correct, saying their links, I'm talking about links to other issues using the generic issue linking functionality.
As for resetting the created date, let me play with this. I created a couple test issues in our team managed project and when i moved them to the new company managed, i though i saw they reset. let me try again and if i am seeing that right, i'll include screenshots. thanks!!!!!
I really appreciate the help!

#2 - "completed" issues can be moved from one project to another. Any generic links between those and other issues should be retained.

Hello @Franklin Thomas L
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Are you moving issues between projects in the same Jira instance or in different Jira instances? You said both "instances" and "projects" in your post. It makes a difference whether your moving just between projects or also between instances.
What functionality are you using to move the issues?
Does the Team Managed project use a Kanban board or a Scrum Board? Is the destination project set up with a Kanban board or a Scrum board?
