Is there a way to select to add an Issue directly to a Kanban Board in when creating a new issue in the Outlook plug-in?
Or even an automation/workflow that can be made to send the new issue directly to a board?
EVERY Issue I create from an email I move to a project kanban board. I forget to go to my Backlog and select to move it to my board [because I'm under the influence of multitasking].
Hi John - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
What type of project is it?
You can probably create an Automation For Jira Rule that auto-transitions the issue from the Backlog status to the next status in your workflow when it is created.
Its a "Team-managed" project (formerly known as a "Next Gen" project, I believe).
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
That might be a little tougher because the of the way the workflows happen.
Here's some more info to get you started though:
Here's some info to get you started with Automation:
There are two types of automation:
Automation Basics: https://www.atlassian.com/software/jira/guides/expand-jira/automation
You can do this via global rules to apply to all projects also. You'll need to be a Jira Admin/Site Admin, go to Jira Settings > System > Automation Rules (left-hand menu).
For more on using Automation For Jira see these help pages.
Jira Automation Template Library to help get you started quickly:

The Automation feature currently does not support automatically moving an issue from the Backlog to the Board for Team Managed projects
Here is the backlog story to get Automation to support it:
