Outbound REST API calls for automation

Jon Schneider January 28, 2021

Looking at trying to use automation with a service management project so that when a new user is requested Jira will automatically kick off the required REST API calls to Office 365 to create an account, assign a password, assign a license, etc.  I have been searching the documentation, but can't find any information about configuring outbound REST API calls from cloud hosted projects.  Anyone know where this info is at?

Hello @Jon Schneider ,

Check out the section on "Outgoing web request" in the KB article Automation actions, these actions allow you to send arbitrary web requests to integrate with any external API.

You will need to formulate the call based on Microsofts office 365 API but the web request action will let you send the request once configured from the automation.

I'm not certain how you could read back from that outgoing web request to see if the response from the api was something like 'user doesn't exist'.
