Only tasks are visible in my Kanban board (company-managed project)

Hi community,

I'm trying to visualize sub-tasks and epics in my Kanban board (company-managed project) but I cannot get them to show up. I've been looking for a while and came across some tips and similar issues but cant seem to figure it out. Below some details about my configuration:

- Different issue types are part of the issue type scheme and not excluded in the project opera_XZP0d0YWgy.png

- The Board filter also includes subtasks and epics. If I have a look at the list of issues when using this filter, I can see subtasks and epics

- If I'm trying to use Query based swimlanes for sub-tasks, tasks and epics. Only the tasks swimlane is visible. Everything else is also not shown.

- Workflow scheme

Any idea what I'm doing wrong in order to show these different issue types? Is this not possible?

Kind regards,
Robbe

Hi @Robbe Vleugels

Sometimes this might be due to the sub filter that is applicable to the Kanban board, head to General tab in configure board and scroll to the bottom to check that value. Usually it filters tickets with a released fix version which your subtasks might have one assigned to them.

Also check the parent of the subtask if it has a released version assigned to.

Hopefully the above would help.

Hi Antuan,

That's it! There was a subfilter active, I removed it and now everything shows up as expected. Thank you!

Kind regards,
Robbe

Hey Robbe,

I replicated your configuration in my sandbox and I was able to show the "All epics" swimlane by choosing the option to display epics as issue cards in the "Columns" tab of board settings. However, I am also not able to get the swimlane for sub-tasks to show up. I'm going to continue messing around with this to see if I can help figure it out but wanted to share that update.

@Robbe Vleugels Following up here, I was able to get each of the desired swimlanes to show on my end.

To get the sub-tasks swimlane to show, I created a new sub-task issue and moved it into the status of "In progress". Once I did that, the subtasks swimlane showed up so try moving existing issues into a status that appears on the board columns or create test ones to see if you can get the swimlanes to appear.

Hi Chris,

Thanks a lot for looking into this!

Regarding the display of the epics, I had that option already enabled but they do not show up in the swimlanes. However, they are counted correctly towards the count below on this same page. As an example, this page tells me there are 7 issues in review.

When I look at the kanban board however only 4 tickets are counted towards this column (the 4 tasks which are in review). The other issues in review (epic and sub-tasks) are still not visible. I verified this by moving both an epic and sub-task to in review and the count on the columns view does go up.opera_U8pr0mkjjn.png

There seems to be some other reason why the other issue types are not visible on the kanban board

Update:

I created a new project and on this one I have it working as I would expect without any issues

As a next step I tried to replicate all the same settings in my other project but still they are not visible somehow. The only difference between the two boards was the issue type screen. I did do this in our sandbox environment
