Not seeing where I can add test

We have a next gen project and the sprint as already started.  I'm trying to create test, but no where do I see the option to create a test.  When I click Tests in the left navigation pane, there is a red "!" "Test is not valid for your current project selection"  I tried going to the project settings and other places and still can't see where I can make this valid.  Can you please help me understand where to do this?  Thanks in advance

You have a test-management App added to Jira giving you a test pane.  I suspect your Jira or System administrators need to enable it in your project.

Problem is, we don't know which one it is!

Are you using an plugin for testing in your instance which is providing the option of "Test" in the left navigation? And It could be that the plugin only supports "classic" projects and not next-gen projects.

On my server Jira version the "tests" option comes from the "Zephyr" plugin.

Found it, currently it's an open ticket, next -gen projects don't support test issue type
