Hi @Keith and welcome to the community,
Are you talking about a JWM project? If so, are you working on company managed project, or a team managed project? Look at the bottom left of your screen.
In addition, are the missing issues old issues?
@Alex Koxaras _Relational_ It says: "You're in a team-managed project"
The missing issues are the oldest issues. The latest 2 issues are showing.

Click on "Issues" and you will see them all. The board displays by default only the recently created/updated issues.

@Alex Koxaras _Relational_ That's true; I want the board to show the list of issues. The older issues are more important to get done, but now they aren't visible on the main board.
How do we fix that setting.

What is the status of the missing issues?
What is the issue type of the missing issues?
Can you provide a screen image of the board, and of one of the missing issues?

Hi @Trudy Claspill ,
Today I logged in and now there is just one issue shown on the summary page and the board.
The status of all the missing items is "Perspective"
The issue types of the missing items is Tasks

Jira issues are assigned statuses. "Prospective" is one such status.
Statuses are grouped into higher level Status Categories. Those categories are:
On a board the columns should be arranged so that the To Do statuses are on the left, the In Progress statuses are in the middle, and the Done statuses on on the right, so that cards progress from left to right.
Issues that are in statuses in the Done/Green category are interpreted by Jira to not need any additional work; they are "done" regardless of the word you see for the status (i.e. "Prospective").
In Work Management projects Jira automatically hides from the board issues that are assigned a Done/Green status when they have been in that status for 14 days or longer. Since the work is done, Jira is automatically removing older items that you don't need to see anymore, helping to reduce the "clutter" on the board. This is not a configurable option. You can always get a complete list of the issues from Issue navigation option or from the Advanced Issue Search screen.
If "Prospective" is not actually an end state for an issue, then the status should be changed to be part of the appropriate category. That can be done by modifying the workflow from Project Settings > Issue Types, and select the issue type, the click Edit Workflow. Click on a status in the workflow and change the Category.
If you change the Category of that status to either To Do or In Progress (whatever is appropriate) I think the issues in that status will reappear on your board.
