No archive option for issues

Nicolas VanOrten July 20, 2022

Hi folks,

my JIRA admin wants to archive some issues in a software project - but there is no further option (no "more"-link) in the interface. We're working in a paid plan.

Any ideas?

Best regards

Nicolas

Hi @Nicolas VanOrten and welcome to the Community!

While archiving individual issues is an option on the Data Center version of Jira, it currently isn't on cloud. You can archive full projects, but not individual issues.

There is a - pretty old - feature request for this, that you can track here: JRACLOUD-5843.

Hope this helps!

Thanks @Walter Buggenhout for your super fast answer.

So, do I get it right: the only option is to delete the issues in the DONE-column (without the chance to restore), to get a slick board without having all the old tickets in sight?

Oh no! Depending on the type of project you are using and the board configuration, they just vanish automatically from the board after some time or as part of a process. To give you a proper answer here: are you talking about a business or software project? Team managed or company managed?

Software Project, team managed.

Ok; then issues should automatically disappear from the board 14 days after they were closed.

If you are working so fast that even then your done column gets crowded, you should be able to manually remove them with this menu option:

Notice that this screenshot is from an actual kanban board in the project, displaying the Done column. The screenshot in your question is from the global search feature in Jira (Filters > advanced search), which does not have the context of your project. It is great to find issues that are still in Jira, but no longer on your board.

Ah yet again the abysmal JIRA functionality strikes - so you have to export them and save them in excel then delete them and if you want to reuse then reimport them.
