Need a role between Project Admin and Application Admin

I need to create a user role that has the ability to add new project or edit values on an existing project but does not carry the application admin security level.

Hi Matt,

You should be able to do that with the Permission Scheme if I am understanding you correctly.

Add a Project Role under System settings for what you want. Then edit the Permission scheme to only grant the functions you want to that Project Role.

Hi butterfieldmatt,

I'm afraid this is not possible. There are 3 levels of administration in Jira:

  • Jira System administrator (Permission to perform all JIRA administration functions)
  • Jira Administrator (Permission to perform most JIRA administration functions)
  • Project administrator (It can only manage its own project)

For more info please see Managing global permissions or JRASERVER-1431
