Hi @serge calderara ,

You can access Jira administration > Applications > Plan your upgrade and see step by step to upgrade your instance.

1. Backup your instance

2. Download data center version which recommended you upgrade to (maybe not latest version).

3. Install your downloaded version to home folder.

4. Apply data center license.

5. Check if your instance work well.

Hope this helps!

@Thuan_ Do Dang , thanks for your reply

I have seen in may post that simply applying a DataCenter licence on a Jira server binary will work , but I really doubt that this is only this

DO you have a proper official links which describe those steps ?

@David Bakkers if I refer to this document :

https://confluence.atlassian.com/enterprise/migrate-from-server-to-data-center-953127136.html

I really doubt that simply upgrading a license will convert your instance to datacenter because you still have application binaries which are server based.

We should normally deploy the DataCenter binary compatible to your server binary version, but nothing is mentioning in this

What I mean by official link steps is a not a google result , which I have done already for long time by searching around

@serge calderara

I think you're right. Here is other document from atlassiant: https://www.atlassian.com/migration/plan/upgrade-to-data-center-guide#assess

They said that you have to upgrade your apps to Data Center version. Then apply Jira Data Center license.

However, I think it'd better to upgrade to Jira instance too (if you don't use many apps).
