Hi,

I set up a company managed Project in Jira and need the component field in issues to be non mandatory.

I deleted the component field but every time an issue is created a message appears that component is required. So this was not the solution.

Can someone help me? Is it even possible to make the component field optional?

Thank you,

Nina

Hi Nina - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Go to the Field Configuration used by the project and make the Components field Optional.

Settings > Issues > Field Configurations

Hi John, just a quick clarification. Will this make Components optional to all the screens? Can it be made optional only to certain screens?

No, you can't control system fields like that with the Field Configuration. You could try to control that by adding a Validator to the workflow for that issue type.
